Anybody on here ever build a pull type scraper? If so do you have any plans you'd be willing to share? I would really like one for my D2.

Caterpillar came out with a hydraulic pull scraper # 40 that was designed for the D4 in around 1949. The 60 cable scraper for the D6, #70 for the 7, #80 for the 8, and #90 for the D9. Later these cable scrapers were called different #'s, 435, Etc...If someone could help me with more modern # for can and what units the were pulled by I need imput.

As for your D-2 scraper hook up there are others that make 'em. I've seen Bee-Gee models and such. Your ? is the same I had a few years ago. It led me to a 4-40, 6-60, and now this:eek: :

I'm looking through the Cat Serial/Product ID book and it looks to me like pull cans ended with cable operation and the only unit that got hydraulics was the #40. Everything else turned into motor scrapers of various types.
Could be wrong and if so I'm sure I'll hear about it:D
The 435 you mention is a 13 yd cable unit.

The last of the two axle tractor scrapers was the 666B, 40 yd/54 heaped that weighed in at 149,500 lbs. with tandem power, 56 ft - 8 in long

Gets pretty messy to identify comparison motor scraper replacement units other than by yardage capacity.

Murray made lots of the little scrapers for D2&D4s in this area but most dont want to part with them. heres 1 a guy pulled wit and IH I9 and I used to have 1 that puled with a T20 but it had side wheels but had apron and all.

That D2 is pulling a C-45 belonging to Chuck C. He has done a nice job of restoring it. I have a LaPlant Choate C-20, which is basically an Airborne scraper with a gooseneck. Here's a pic of both of them after we went and picked mine up.

Chuck has done a nice job restoring it. It works well also. He moved a lot of dirt with it that day.
