I'm pretty sure my D2 originally had lights as it had most of the wiring still on it when I got it, but was missing the generator and lights. I found some lights and a delco remmy generator the kind that doesn't need a battery and was hoping to rig it up to make the lights work. My question is does anyone have a picture of the mounting bracket for the generator as its pretty tight behind the engine side guard, and I can't figure out how it's supposed to go in there. Do I have to cut a hole out of this guard for clearance? I made new guards as they were missing when I got the cat due to worn out bushings on the roller frames. I think this may also be why the generator was removed. Also don't want a Mickey Mouse setup to adjust belt tension... Thanks

All the generators I have seen on D-2's were gear driven right off of the engine and were an option. Never seen a belt driven one. Dandy Dave!

Yep the crank pulpy is double and would that be the 4 holes on the lower front end of the block or the bracket that holds up the radiator?

Here are some pictures from Form 6700, the 3J1-5000 parts manual. The battery generator (third picture) is a bit shorter than the battery-less (second picture) and you can see part of the bracket that bolts to the cylinder block behind it. I also posted what looks like a U-series style generator (first picture) with the front plate that permits flange-mounting. The manual doesn't say much about these options but I'm guessing the flange mount probably has a bracket to bolt it to the block, rather than the gear train housing attachment style that the U-series uses. (Note - there are more generator part numbers than just those three but these are representative of the mounting styles)

Hi Joe, I don't suppose you have two sets?
Thomas, there are 6v LED lights with bayonet fittings available - that might give you a bit more lighting punch than filament bulbs, and the light fitting will still look original.

Hi Neil,
No, just the one set.
Where do you get LED lights that look original?
Is there 24 volt available?

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
