Can anyone tell me the year of this D7E dozer that is coming up for auction? The serial number is 48AE8069. Owner died and his son does not know much about it, He told me he spent 25000.00 on a power shift transmission for it and it always run hot (trans temp) so he parked it. He also said it is a high horse power machine. It is turbocharged.Tracks look good and the pins and bushings have not been turned yet.Looks like there is 70% track left yet. Has hydraulic blade with tilt cyl on one side.He also has another D7 OR d6 cable unit. Also has a D6c cable unit, not power shift, that he was using before he died. The D6C looks like it has new rails. Could not find the serial # on the D6, his son did not know much about any of them. Just getting all his stuff ready to sell. Thanks for any info on any of these. I have a 175C track loader, two D4,and a allice m crawler.

I have two sources of info on the production date, one says 1966 the other is 1967.....I think the more reliable is 1967.
Yes it would be a higher hp machine.....went from 160hp to 180hp at sr. #48A6883.
Sounds like a pretty good unit (after sorting out the heating problem)
Good luck if you pursue it.

Overheating is most often lack of oil flow through the torque. Check pump pressure at high idle and low idle should hold 90% of high reading at low idle. Might need a pump or the steering linkage adjusted.
