I am in need of some gears to put my winch back in order. Was wondering if anyone had any leads on where to buy parts for the old Hysters or is it now just a boat anchor and I should look for a replacement for it?

I contacted them for D4 and D2 winch parts with no success.
I also searched for parts for a year or so but ended up getting a gear and shaft re-made - ouch!
Bearings were easy to find but seals were not.
You should have greater chance of success tho especially to find one being wrecked.
I think many winches here in Aus were easy pickings for scrap.
Good luck.

I have a complete Hyster D4 Winch that I would sell. It is complete except for the control levers. Everything turns and looks good inside it. I've never used it. Roger Martin, southwest Ohio, 937-477-5270 or email: [email protected]

I just want to give this a bump and update it a little. I'm still looking for a winch. I have found a D4 hyster or two out there but none with controls and the controls for these winches are different. My Father has a D4 winch on his tractor and I guess I plan to stick with my N series at this point. Also I have found the gears I need will not interchange between the two winches, the N series uses a 32 tooth sliding gear while the D4 series uses a 28 tooth, both have different part numbers as do the intermediate shafts used in each series. I have further found that the intermediate shaft, which has two gears integral to it, so one can't just replace one gear, you need the entire shaft.

All this probably means finding another winch for parts. I'm hoping someone has one kicking around with no controls that they would part with. If anyone knows of one, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,
Joe

Nothing on their site. I emailed them to see if I missed something.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
