I was watching a Sept 3rd, 1987 rerun of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson this evening. He mentioned that the Aussie that invented the grenade boomerang died on that date. Must have been an interesting weapon.

Hi, O-I-H.
Was it the ceremonial boomerang or the hunting boomerang that it was modelled on? If it was the ceremonial or 'play' boomerang, that would explain why they also called it the 'suicide' grenade 'cos the 'play' boomerang is the one that is designed to return to the thrower.

Hi Deas, Thanks for that link. I was wondering about the sanity of a grenade that would come back and blow up in your face if you missed. Explaining that a hunting boomerang does not return to the thrower adds merit to it. I guess it never was to sucessful. Amazing what one can learn here.
