Does seem the source I was using is a little heavy. Closest I can verify by Parts Book info is for the 1H6852-1H9999 @ 34,000 lbs which should be the same for the 8R.

I think that's where I got my info from was the 1H. seems like the 2U and 13A was heavier but not sure why? not much different except transmissions. I think the 14A runs around the low 40000 pound mark.

Hi, Ujoint.
I don't know about the earlier 2Us up to the transmission change, but somewhere along the run they also went to the boxed-in frame instead of the 'webbed-in' angled steel frame and they also added the hardnose around 1950. Both of those changes would have added extra weight and I suspect that the 2-stick transmission would also have been heavier than the earlier slide bar transmission.

I would not be at all surprised if the 8R was a little heavier than the 1H too as Cat had a habit of finding weak points and beefing them up in later models.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
