Hi, RD6plower.
Now I'm kew-ree-yuss. Would you please tell me from what part of DowNunder cones that third photo which you appear to have snuck into your line-up of California fire photos. And from whence comes photo #5 - - - No place like that have I seen in either your country or mine?

Please don't leave us hanging like this.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Nice pics! and tractors! stupid news media never shows any heavy equipment, always the ground pounders putting out a spark killing themselves in the smoke or maybe a airplane flying over. Were there some D7G's in there also?

I also wish to thank you for the photos. One "silly" thought, if I may, was there an environmental impact study made before all the dozing of the area. We ALL MUST remember that we are NOT ALOWED to do anythng without some DUMB (to say it very politely) government agency giving us permission to do anything... just think of all those poor bushes being bull dozed down and some poor critter being killed too... AND the ground being disturbed too...

Sorry, I just HAD to say that. I'll get off of my soap box now...

Hey Walt,

You think you have it bad in the US, we anticipate in the future in Oz that we will have to wear Hover Craft Boots so as not to disturb anything.

If we have a fire, the policy is not to do anything that will cause damage for a number of days, then when the fire has become large and uncontrollable, forget all about the claptrap and bring in the bulldozers.

Firstly, the dozers must all have airconditioned cabs, mesh all around the cab so the operator cant see out, all glass replaced with a very high quality Perspex, limb risers etc, so with the exception of a couple of machines so equipped, we all sit and wait until the fire is just totally viral, then they allow anything on the fire ground.

Greeny environmental madness, stupidity and controls, just makes me mad too.

Hence, I am The Mad Mouth From The South

Hi, D23J.
Are you by some chance enquiring about the terms, "Greeny environmental madness", "stupidity" and "controls"? Since you live in the same over-governed lump of country as Sir Wombat, I would have thought that you would at least be conversant with them, even if you don't FULLY comprehend them. LOL.

There was a property owner down your way several years ago who was fined $100,000 for clearing around his house to protect it from bushfires. Then a 'rather large and fierce fire' came through and took out EVERY house in his street - - - except his. I have never been able to find out if he was given back his $100,000, hopefully WITH an apology.

Trouble being that we have similar issues up here in God's Own Country, the Sunshine State.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hello Deas! Yes i did not catch those two pics till it was posted up i uploaded them off my iphone so everything is sooo tiny on it lol but i hope that answers your question

Ps i would have much rather been running one of the 6c's or the d7 over the full cab d5 you just cant beat those older cats in rock or boulders like we were!

On the valley fire I didnt get to work with him but they had a D8N and a 9 or two

Rome/KG,

Was that the episode where Gage and DeSoto rode on the operators platform to get down to the crashed vehicle in a ravine...and one of them got bit by a rattle snake? I remember that episode just because of that D8 and all the camera angles they had of it!

Ya that's the one! They rode back up on it. its on dvd the episode is called "Snakebite" its in the season three set. Great sound and pics of the D8! They sure don't make good shows like that anymore!!!!!!!!! Totally Awesome!!!!! It has a decal on it that's from Shepard Cat. The tractor is also direct drive.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
