Had a great day today !
The firm Bijker did some deep plowing in my area.
So you see old machines are still doing well.

The older D8 ( 1954 ) had a broken pony engine for 5 years now.
Therefore needs to be pull started every time.
If it is stopped, the rear D8 so as short as possible behind him in order to make this possible.
Does the engine off while plowing than D8H pulls start him backwards to !!!!!!

WOW, Now thats a plow. I noticed that the tow chain runs under the third tractor and attaches directly to the plow. Nice hitch. I could really turn up some big rocks with a setup like that at my place. Thanks for posting.

wow now that's a plow. dumb question but why plow that deep will you not lose your top soil or is this not for framing? looks to be pulling sand and clay up not the best for growing. grate videos i thought the one got a pull start lol.

Plows like that were used along the Mississippi after the great flood of 1993. After the waters receded many acres of farm ground along the river were covered with a thick layer of sand, and crops could not be planted. I remember seeing several pictures in Successful Farming Magazine of two D8h's pulling a plow just like that. The plow brought the topsoil back to the surface and turned the sand underneath. Then the farmer would use normal tillage equipment to work the ground back down and make it suitable for crops again. I am sure it was an impressive operation and I would liked to have watched it in person. I was only 13 then, but I think the article mentioned they were plowing nearly six feet deep. Regards Bill
