Because I don't have the serial number yet I'm most likely jumping the bun a little.

As I poster a couple of days ago I purchased an early 50's D4 with Cat blade. I know the rocks guards are ruff at best and there are a few other things I'll need to fab or get. Are there sources for parts like these? Used parts sources?

Welcome aboard. Cat fever is addictive. Yes, you need the serial number to get the correct parts. Florin Tractor does good for me on most parts. Their number is in the Sticky for "Parts" on the Discussion page. Call Dana, he will help you. Good luck. Post some pictures of it for us. Glen

LOL, we were together this past Monday when I bought the D4. He's the one who helped me find it and look it over! Met him and his boss......errrrr lovely wife! They were fun to be with and our ball and chains got along well too. Ops, spouses.
