Hey OldMagnet,
I got kicked out a couple of times, but the third time I got the page. Wow what a great collection of Dozer Blades. The Baker 9X cracked me up. Imagine the dozer blade hooked up solid and raise and lower the whole tractor... Wow great stuff. I even figured out where Romekg got his handle from...lol
that's a nice page with lost of info thanks. was a good little read cus there where lost of pics lol
lol ya My dads name was Ken n mines Gary, we have Rome plows and disks so the name fit.
I like the GarWood blade on the HD5 with the Rams lifting off the hard nose. It does not give the date but I think they built those in the early '50's. Much more advanced than the 4S and 4A blade that Cat built at the time. I don't think Cat made blades like that until the '60's.
Roger A. Has done a good job putting that info online. He is a fine person and has done a great deal to document the "classics"
is there any particular trick to viewing this web page?
Everytime I try it, the page freezes up and I have to quit out of it😞
I've not had any trouble viewing. First couple times there was an ad that I had to get out of but don't see that ad any more.
I fiddled with the 'Tools - Compatibility' setting and it fianlly loaded up.
Nice web page!
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, 8C 361.
There is a VERY good reason that the D2s and D4s didn't have the hardnose blade lift arrangement on the early models - 'cos they didn't have main frames to support the engine, radiator AND the weight of the blade out there. If you look at the D2s and the D4s up to the D4C, you may notice that the engine block IS the entire support for both engine and radiator ahead of the equaliser spring. Can you imagine what might happen if you tried to hang a blade lift on that?
The D4s were given a main frame and a hardnose with the D4D.
Cat were NOT the only ones in this boat by a LONG chalk. IH was another one and they had this design with their equivalents of the D6 and the D7, the TD14 and TD18 respectively, as well. It was not until IH introduced the TD24 in 1947 that they had anything with a hardnose blade lift.
Even with the bigger Cat models back in the early days, LaPlante-Choate for one made blade lifts mounted on the track frames for D7s and D8s. Prior to the advent of OEM hardnoses on Cat machines, a frame needed to be added off the main frame around and above the radiator to carry the blade lift, as with the LeTourneau headache bar arrangement.
Hi, Inter 674.
If you get that pop-up window about the blog domain name registration being out of date, look at the top right corner of that window for an 'X' and the word, 'Dismiss'. Click there and that should disappear leaving you unfettered access to the goodies behind. Happy browsing.
Hi, Glen.
Here is a link to a Youtube video clip of the HD9X with the Baker experimental blade:
