Today is the day in the U.S. when we give thanks to God for all of his blessings on us, as individuals, families, and as a nation. My immigrant ancestor, John Howard, who came from England to America in 1642, was one of the Pilgram leaders in his adulthood in Plymouth Colony (later joined Massachusetts colony in about 1690). In those days, Thanksgiving was indeed a religious observance. Today, we gather together to enjoy family and friends. I hope you are all with family, friends, and loved ones. May God bless your home. And your Cats, too!

We here in Denver, Colorado, USA, are enjoying temperatures that are below freezing (about 15 degrees F.), with some snow on the ground, and overcast skies. Good weather for tracking deer, elk, and the elusive wild turkey.

With best wishes to you all, GWH

Thank you for the sentiment, George, with which I can only concur.

We don't observe Thanksgiving Day down here in NZ but I hope all you readers in the USA had a great day in which you could offer thanks for a great life in a great country.

On that basis, we, too, could well have a day of thanksgiving in New Zealand, for it is a very wonderful country in which, despite all our grumbling, gives us a great life. I thank God for all that I have (including 4G5151W)which gives me a life of incredible fulfillment and which, like good wine, only gets better with age!

It would be great if all we in the Western world could stop for a minute or two every now and again, count our blessings and give thanks where thanks are due. It might make us realise that we have it pretty good.

Regards to all.

John
