G'Day All,

I am in need of a Service Manual, and an Operators Manual to go with my RD4. Yesterdays tractors has both for sale at what looks like a good price. My question is.... Has anyone bought them, and are they good reprints? Price wise they seem fine.
I have seen some really crappy reprints of manuals over the years...... So I tend to be a bit wary......

Cheers,

Phill.

I have NEVER had any luck with ANY reprint manual.
Every one I have seen, (and I have seen quite a few in 30+ years),some or a lot, of the pages were unreadable, and the pictures, well, you could not make them out.
I rely on ebay or a google search for a factory print. May take some time to find but, it is worth the wait and the extra cost of money.

I own a few Jensales manuals that I bought years ago.
The parts manuals are ok but the service and operation manuals with illustrations are terrible.

I had the same experience & I think that is the general consensus.

Advertise on here, HCEA.net, -----place an ad on Craigslist in California------- or try Ebay 231279216702 for a 7J

In taking your advice Gents,

I have kept to original printings from Caterpillar.

I just won a (supposedly) 1936 RD4 Operators Manual for US$60, which I think is a fair price, on ebay. 😊

Last week I bought a Serviceman's Reference Book on the D4400 Diesel Engine, on ebay. 😊 Not a bad browse, but I found it lacking in technical spec's. 😞

With the RD4, I received Parts Catalogs for both RD4 (no date inside) and D4 (1940), and, a Serviceman's Reference Book for the 318 Diesel Engine (no date). The previous owner also had a D6 at one time, hence the book on the 318.

Now I just need to get my hands on a RD4 Service Manual, to assist my overhaul/rebuild etc. and I will be laughing..... But I suppose the question is..... what other bits of paper will I need .....

Cheers,

Phill.

Hi Phill once you have your manuals the only other paper is the folding stuff  . But you will have fun getting it going again.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
