Looking for any information that might be out there regarding these hybrid track units I picked up a few months ago. They were bullt to go under a John Deere combine and have quite a few Caterpillar D2 undercarriage parts on them. Even the main roller frames were built from a D2 track frame that was extended to nearly twice its original length and had a custom high-drive mount welded onto them. There were still JD combine final drives attached to the elevated drive sprockets but at the time I made the video I thought they may have been from a crawler, I have since been told they are in fact combine components. Honestly I only bought the two track assemblies for the Cat parts on them, and by the time I made the video I had already completely dismantled one - that's why only one is left on the trailer. Both are dismantled now, but all the parts are still around. I was recently told that setups like this were more commonly found on the West Coast (mainly California) so just wondering if anybody on here has seen units like these before. They are totally out of place around this area.

MATE these are used on rice headers or combines as you blokes in yanky land call them
they also make a similar thing for sugar cane harvesters although they use D4 tracks as a cane harvester is a lot heavier
the first 2 are a rice header and tracks for a rice header the rest are for a cane harvester

It would be interesting to see if there is a Part Number on those sprockets to see if there is another Crawler out there in the World that used the same pitch on their Rails.
90 links and 8 rollers per side will give you enough for all your D2's!

Yes, these were used on rice harvesters up in the Sacramento delta
area of California. Never paid that much attention but knew they existed.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. Paul, that first picture you posted of the combine has the exact same sprocket and hub assembly that I found on these here. Thanks for all the info and pics.

I believe they were used on the J D 55 & 95 harvesters in the rice when it was too muddy for rubber, it looks like someone customized the ones you have, all the ones out her that I have seen have 4 rollers, 2 idlers & 31 links per side. Lots of good stuff with usually very little wear.

Thank you very much for the scans there, farmhand. That's exactly the kind of info I was hoping to find. It's great to be able to put a manufacturer's name along with the product, those scans explain how everything I was wondering about in the video actually operated.

If you can find casting numbers on the green parts, I can probably track down what model of combine they were on, if that would be of interest...

Thank you for the offer ronm, it just shows the helpfulness of the individuals here. Fortunately I've already been able to get that information via private messages with another BB member but I thank you again for the offer to help.
