Although progress is very slow, things are starting to come together. Recently I married the engine and Transmission. See photo. The following things have been done to the engine and transmission: Engine-
• Rebuilt head (valves, seats, springs)
• Block boiled
• Cylinders bored and sleeved
• Piston rings replaced
• Crank ground and polished
• Main and rod bearings re-babbitted
• Seal and gasket set.
• Radiator boiled & pressure tested
• Flywheel ring gear removed, flipped and turned 90 degrees, chamfers cut on teeth
• Clutch disk refaced
• Clutch throwout bearing replaced
• Generator re-wired for 12 volts, replaced generator drive gear
• Carb rebuilt
Transmission-
• Seal and gasket set
• New clutch/brake pedal shaft
• Clutch and brake pedals bored and bushed
• Clutch pedal shaft bearings in bell housing bored and bushed
• Transmission input shaft bearing and seal replaced
• Engine clutch brake re-lined
• PTO bearings replaced
• Steering clutch operating handle guide replaced

See attached photos.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and an even better 2014. Ray

Did you re-Babbitt your own bearings or did you have it done?

Norm, I do not have the equipment needed to do the re-babbitting so I took it to an old guy who does nothing but babbitting. He must be about 200 years old, and came highly recommended by NAPA as well as some ACMOC members. I am very pleased with his work. Ray

I would assume that the "Old" guy is in the Albany area?

Yup, he is less than an hour North of here in Ft Edward, NY. He has a one man shop called, strangely enough, The Babbitt Pot. (51😎 747-4277

Ray,

Which paint code and manufacturer did you use? I am using a Dupont 421a (found the number in the archives) but it looks too light to me.

Paul,
I use Rustoleum Old Cat Yellow Acrylic Enamel on top of cold galvanizing compound. I get my paint from Zoro Tools. I have been very satisfied with the color match based on what I find in non-exposed areas on the tractor. I am not building a show Cat, but a gentleman farmer's Cat. I'll push some dirt around with it, and pull some stumps. It has an Issacson blade and hydraulics on it.

Dan, I found a replacement generator drive gear from Wally Adams on this site. When I get some time I may try to repair the gear I have, but it was chewed up pretty bad.
