Chris,
I am in the process of restoring my CAT22 2F5209. Some ideas on parts sources include:
1. Look through the sticky post above for parts sources.
2. Your local CAT dealer will have some bearings, packing, etc. They can also help if you do not have needed equipment. For example, I had to have a new final drive shaft pressed in with new bearings. Be prepared for high costs for labor, however.
3. Lots of members on this site can help with good used parts, just post what you need to the for sale/parts wanted page.
4. For gasket sets I recommend Olson's Gaskets (www.olsonsgaskets.com)
5. For seat cushions and arm rests I recommend John Hahn (http://www.hahn-tractor-seats.com/)
6. For carb rebuild I recommend Farmers Service Inc. (http://www.farmersserviceinc.com/carbrebuild.htm)
7. For brake band relines and clutch brake reline I just go to my local truck brake service folks.
Just some ideas for starters. Post what you need and folks here will help you. Ray
Chris, BTW, they did not publish a service manual for the CAT22. Some of the information in the service manual for the CAT 20 is helpful. Be sure to get the owners manual and the parts manual. You can find them on ebay and also I think the parts sources sticky on this site has information on where you can get them. Ray
I appreciate the info thanks
Serial number is 2F80 on the cat 22 anyone have an earlier series # ?
Oh wow, that is an early one and welcome to the site. I hope you can post some pictures, we love pictures here.
chriscokid, one of the members here maintains a site with information about serial numbers and some of their owners.

I don't know if they still provide the service but when I first got my tractor in the early 90's, I was able to get copies of the operators manual and the parts manual from the University of California at Davis. I think they charged about 10 cents per page back then for copies.
Any pics or info in converting to electric start would be appreciated thanks
I bought a parts and operators manual from Jensales. They admit its not the best quality copy but the best they have, it is readable and worth having. The 22 I just bought came electric start but since the owner died I have no information on the conversion. Any help I can give let me know steve
Chris, do you know that the starter was an after market conversion, and not an original factory setup? My CAT22, 2F5209, came with a generator and electric start from the factory. One way to possibly see if it was an original factory starter is to look at the flywheel ring gear. The factory ring gear had 118 teeth, while aftermarket modifications probably do not have 118T. I have read about folks using a ring gear from a Ford for the conversion. If you search this site you will find a number of discussions on this topic. The ring gear on my 22 had severe damage to the teeth, so I looked at getting a replacement for the factory original ring gear. Could not fine one with the correct number of teeth, ID, OD and thickness. I ended up removing the ring gear, flipping it over, rotating it 90 degrees, and cutting new chamfers on the leading edge of the teeth. We'll see just how this works when I try starting it up. Ray
