I am looking for info on a Hough H90C Payloader, I was told built in 1968

Weight, good or bad in general, it has a cummings diesel and like new tires, I think can buy it cheap.

TIA

Hi, SteveA.
The Hough Payloaders were mostly pretty solid, reliable machines that worked pretty well. I have operated the Hough 30's, 50's and 60's and a Hough 100. The 90 that you are looking at would be an articulated steering machine with the operator station on the front and the rear turning away from you. Takes a little getting used to as you can't 'feel' where your back end is going. They were quite a popular loader in their day. They were on the market somewhat before Cat started building wheeled loaders but then so were a lot of other manufacturers..

I can't give you weight, etc., or verify the build date but the boys over at Redpower Magazine construction equipment forum will be able to give you most of the information that you will need, including spare parts sources for it if you buy it. I'd give you the link for that site but I am using the 'Golden Arches' restaurant wi-fi and it is almost as much use as a breast pocket in a G-string. - slower than cold molasses.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Years ago I operated one intermittently and could not get use to the jerking of your body on that seat arrangement. The full time operator also always remarked about the jolting.Otherwise it was a good loader.

My S/N books shows between, numbers 1988 through 2117 would be a 1968.
My book shows no other information for the H90C. all the other models yes, but not the H90C.
Sorry about that.

Steve,

My dad converted 4or 5 over to cummings 6cyl from the factory Ihc v8. We had two at work one with a cummings conversion, the 6cyl was peppier because of the increased low end torgue. They were a good machine in thier day but did show wear with oil leaks and brake problems. We also had a H100c that was similiar but just bigger. Hope this helps.
