Hi Guys

I have just bought a old 955 in Australia but I am unsure of the year, the plate says 26a96. I'd like to track down an manual/s for it.
It goes ok been sitting for a lot of years, tracks need some attention the right hand track tensioner was stuffed but found a seal kit for it that had fallen under the floor its pretty rough all the chrome is gone on the outside but the inside does not look to bad and hopefully a hone and the seal kit will get it going again.
It's been converted to 24volt but appears they have not done anything with the generator,it is not hooked up am I correct in thinking the generator will be 12 volt?

Most likely it is 6 volt as that was what Cat used.If the tag on the generator has red background color rather than black it is likely a 12 volt.

Thanks for the info that should make life a bit easier if I can get a manual now.

One more question please on the generator is there a 24v one that bolts on where the 6v one goes or do most make a bracket and use the fan belt?

On the 12A version made in the U.S., there was a 6 volt version made to charge the starting engine (pony motor) battery or if it was direct start like mine came from the factory, then it's a 24V generator.

Here's the wiring diagram:

I don't think there was ever a 12V version made on these machines.

Hi leew,
your 955 26A96 is Comparative to a 12A 7363.
The 26A is an Australian Serial Number given it because of the Aussie content.

You need to find books to suit the 12A 7363 S/No.

I do not think there were any Aussie books released for this unit.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thanks for the info guys I was confused about the 26a it makes sense now.
I got the manual from the link provided $9.99 + $7.00 postage I was about to pay $39 + $28 postage glad I waited I should have searched ebay.com direct the international part on ebay.com.au never seems to give all that is available.
Looks like mine was 6volt one as the last owner converted it from the pony motor, so I just need to find a 24v generator for it now.
Thanks once again for the info hopefully I'll get to drive it somemore this weekend if my new filters arrive in time they were all filthy especially the 4 fuel ones.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
