I posted wanting help to have my Sixty oil pressure gauge rebuilt. After calling a few guys and finding a $500 est. to repair.

Wally posted a reply and got me started on doing it myself.

I took apart the worst one I had for practice, then took apart the better one that did work but the face was almost gone.

I took the face to a sign shop and the first guy couldn't get the scale right with 3 tries so to another guy and he did it right the first time.

I cleaned a lubed the watch type gears in the gauge, then put the face on. I then applied air with a air regulator to 30 psi and installed the needle on the rebuilt gauge. I checked the calibration from 5 psi to 50 psi and it is very close with in 2 psi.

I do have some extra face decals for $5 each if any one wants to try it.

What trick did you use to pull the needle?
Without a "needle puller" it can be tough to pull the sticky ones without damaging the bearings.

Guys I can get more printed the set up is done. You can email me for my address. [email protected]

The needle pulls kind of hard, pull it before you remove from the outside housing helps. I used a needle nose pliers.

The glass bezel is remove by first running a single edge razor blade around it, then a small puddy knife, then the gasket scraper, buy this time is is almost loose.

I pressed is back on using a large socket in my vise.

Please let me know how many deals you guys want by Sunday and I wil get them ordered next week. Tim

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
