I recently acquired a PTO for my D2 and I am re-sealing the unit. The gaskets are no longer available so I had to make them. There are three seals that are still available. The question is about the rod that engages the shaft to the tractor torque. It appears that the shaft tolerance seals the shaft and prevents the gear oil from leaking into the tractor housing. Am I correct and if mine is slightly worn will it leak?

Just a helpful hint something that I ran into while resealing my PTO I used liquid gasket maker to reseal the PTO case which wasn't good, it put to much preload on my barrings luckily I turned it by hand to realize it was too tight. So make sure you use the right thickness of gasket material as the original.

I don't think it will leak from that shaft. The oil level in the pto is way lower than that.
