Last time I posted a picture of what was "found" in someone else's shed. Everyone got excited! Well check this "baby" out! A CAT 10 with a factory Sickle Bar on it!!! This was found sitting in another shed of the same guy! I am sure this will EXCITE alot of people! If I can get it to post properly???

I noted with great interest your photo of the "Caterpillar" built mounted power driven mower, those mowers carry the model prefix of "4C", they were designed for use with the following "CAT" tractors, - "10", "15" & model "8C" Tewnty. For some unknown reason very few were ever built by "CAT", from memory only approx 180 machines. (very rare today !!!)

There were other manufacturer's who also built very similar units, they were - the "RAWL" by - Rawl's Manufacturing Co, Streator, Illinois, also the "Detroit" by the Detroit Harvester Co, Detroit, Michigan.

Just curious, did by chance some of the parts on that mower have part numbers identical to those on a Dane or early John Deere? Things like sections, holddowns, ledger plates and guards. That looks an awful lot like a Dane sickle bar. I seem to remember the JD numbers started with H___, but it's been a while. I'm not sure at all.

There was a time when JD and Cat were marketed together a lot and it lasted until JD got seriious about building crawlers.

That is just a dandy find. I believe I'd mow with it if I had it. A little tightening up here and there, the normal adjustments, I bet that rig would lay a field down pronto.

What's the truck its on? It appears to have a hand throttle/spark control on the steering column.

I think the truck might be a Mack. The father of the owner of the earlier picture has a very nice restored unit. I have seen it in some of the local parades.

See! Thats what happens when you rely on your memory! I was/am positive it is a 10. Now I notice that its commented as being a 15. Dang! I hate having a poor memory!

Thanks 84WD10 for the info. I thought that I was told there are/were only 3 in the US. Maybe they did build more.

To JACK; I will tell you that I know for sure all the part numbers on that mower are CAT not JD/Dane. The story of how it came to be is quite interesting and long winded. Too long winded for a 3 finger typist to repeat.

To AL; He said that it does have grass stains on it as the sickle is sharp and functioning.

Now to the truck!
It is indeed a MACK! Not just any hard rubber tired MACK either!
It is a rear twin axle chain driven truck! I would / will say that it has duals on each axle also, but again relying on memory. Unfortunately I don't have a full side shot of the truck showing the rear axles!

It is featured in a local town parade almost every year.

I find it exciting when I can "feature" a photo on here for everyone's enjoyment. The items shown are rare and loving cared for. Though I am sure a few more that I may have to post my seem generic or common, there are people out there that may appreciate them!

I can stop drooling. I didnt know that there was actually a mower out there. I have been looking for one since I got my unit with a few mower parts on it. I was fortunate enough to get some very nice manuals but still no mower. If any one ever sees the mower please do let me know. I would be very interested. I can give you my first born child proivided the wife doesnt know what is going on and if she makes me have a child. The picture is of my 22 that has the parts.
Drujinin, if you have any more pictures of the unit I would be very appreciative to get them. Thanks for posting the picture already up.
