Hey Gang,

I had lunch today with an owner of some property in Petaluma, Ca. He wants an oval race track built. I am going to meet with him on Sunday. He wants to get started right away. I will post again on Sunday evening. Get your crawlers warmed up and get ready to play. It should take three week ends or so. D4-e, I need your help on this one. He is talking about a 80' lane width with a 140' wide infeild, then another 80', so 300' wide. Then he said 265' long infield radius to radius, then 70' radius and 80' wide lanes again, so 565' long. He thinks he wants 12% bank curves down to around 6% coming in and out with 2% down the straight aways. John does this sound about right? Need input. Can you come up next weekend, or the following one? I have plenty of iron for you to run. Everyone is welcome. Jan can you come run push cat? The 14-a is missing you already. Chad, I'll finally get to put "Twin Stacks" to work. Hey Oil Slick, are you busy or do you think you can make it? Hey Deas, what are we going to do with out you? Hey LCM when do you break for Thanks Giving?-glen

Hi, Glen.
You know I'd love to be there for all that fun. I dunno wotchyer gonna do without me but I suspect that you will find a way. Just make sure that you have AT LEAST twice as much fun so that we can share it. It would be great to see 'Twin Stacks' doing her thing . I sure hope that the weather is kind to you too.

Did you get the video clip and the link that I sent you regarding the Hungry Horse siamesed D8's?

Catchyalater.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hey Deas,

Thanks mate, yes I did. Sorry that I didn't get back to you. Yesterday was the first time in a week that I have had time to shave. Been burning the candle from both ends again for a little bit. My Super was on vacation for two weeks, my project manager was gone a few days and I am short an estimator. Had to put some extra hours in and bid a few projects that had our names on them. Picked up two projects in the last week, so it's worth it. I am waiting to hear on a third, I realy want that one, should know next week. It's been a good year mate, just worried with the results of our election. I feel we are headed for rough waters. I hear the water flow is headed for a water fall, not good. I am afraid that the good moods and results we have been seen are all false. They have been a set up to get us past the election. The real test will be the first half of next year. Hold on mate. The real test of Obama will be in the next few years. He can't blam the previous President this time around can he. I have been advised to hold on to something thight, but that doesn't make sense to me. Headed for an edge cliff waterfall, I think we have a better chance climbing in barrells. How many have made it going over Niagra Falls?

I will get some video's of Twin Stacks wearing her work clothes. I'll see if I can mount it on the hood for a point of view shot. I'll do the best that I can to let you rid along. It will be fun when the project gets close to finish grade. Twin Stacks will be running wide open spreading thin in bank curves. What a blast. Sorry you can't make it mate. Maybe I will get a Green shirt and put it on a few stakes in the middle of the infeild so you can feel at home. LOL See you on the next one.-glen

Glen,

I finished up in Stockton a week ago so I am back in San Diego working on my FIFTEEN. However, I plan to be in Fresno the week after next so I could come up for 11-17/18 or 24/25. What's 220 miles more to come play with friends on a D8! A potential kicker is my work at AECOM includes working for FEMA as a contractor (no not engineering contractor just work by the hour doing paperwork) and just got off the phone with them. I said "No" (for now) as they wanted me to fly to NYC tomorrow or Monday to work on the Hurricane Sandy mess. That's too little notice and I've already been gone from home the last three months. Not sure I want to spend a winter back there either, ha!

You probably don't know yet but is this track on pretty flat land or is it cut and fill? Borrow pit? I also like to run "blades" and could help with staking. You are a fine fellow to take the time to set something like this up considering how busy you are. It would be great fun however!

Deas. When you get some time, how about sending me that link to the Hungry Horse video. My father-in-law worked on the Dam and later got a job there as an operator. I've spent a lot of time up there.

I just figured out you posted this a while back:

"As I understand it, Buster did the research for this idea using 2 x AC HD19's before he built the 'real thing' with 2 x D8's. - maybe he didn't want to waste 2 perfectly good D8's if the idea didn't work. I suspect that the 'saimese' HD19's went to work at Hungry Horse dam before the Super Push Cat D8's were built and went there as I have seen a couple of photos of 'siamesed' HD19's and I think the caption said that they were at Hungry Horse."

I remember Bob telling me about those AC-s and the sound they made winding up as they cleared slash and pulled the clearing ball through the bottom of the canyon.

Hi, Mike.
I'll do better than that. I'll post that link right here where everybody and his dog can see it and enjoy that clip.

http://www.veoh.com/watch/v29408183beMJc4Gr?h1=Hungry+Horse+Dam+Reservoir+Clearing

I'm not sure about any siamesed A-C's going to Hungry Horse as the video clip in this link clearly shows two sets of HD20's at the Garrison Dam which began construction in 1947 and the Hungry Horse dam commenced construction in 1948. I also don't know if Buster siamesed these two sets of A-C's

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKZtR2Sn40k

I also have an A-C promotional video of the clearing of the Hungry Horse Dam and it makes no mention of any siamesed machines there.

In his book, The Caterpillar Chronicle, Eric Orlemann mentions that Buster Peterson siamesed two A-C crawlers before he siamesed the three sets of 2U D8's. How-wevver, he does not say why buster did it with the A-C's before he did the D8's, who he did them for or where they went. It might be interesting to catch up with Mr Orlemann and ask him if he has any further information about the A-C machines 'cos, Cat or not, they would be a part of the Buster Peterson story.

Hi, Glen.
It's good to hear that you have been getting more work - even if you did have to do a lot of extra hours to get it. You appear to have a good team there, even if some of them are missing in inaction sometimes when you REALLY need them, and it would be good to be able to keep them together. Best of luck with that third contract.

I would be willing to bet that Obama will find a way to blame somebody if/when the country goes further backwards under his ALLEGED leadership over the next four years. I'm fairly sure that he can't blame his high school French teacher for it though - - - 'cos I don't think he had one. Then again, they say that necessity is the mother of invention.

There was a cartoon doing the rounds several months ago of 'GeeDubbya' saying, "If Obama gets re-elected, think what a mess he's going to inherit this time."

I have just one question regarding his re-election. How could so many supposedly well educated people be so utterly STOOOOOPIDDDDD????????

Will the REAL Obama voters please stand up?

After SEVEN months of being given false leads and wrong information about leads to connect my video camera to my laptop or PC, I have finally discovered that there is no connection cable for my camera to do this. Looks like I will have to either upgrade the camera or find somebody with a laptop-compatible camera that I can borrow to download the videos from Tulare to my laptop so that I can send them to you.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hi Deas Plant,
The answer to your question is because of the Socialist public educators we have in our school systems. It's taken about 50 years to dumb down the public school system. Not all, but a big majority of the educators are left leaning hate America for what it stands for types. The next 4 years will be a very Interesting time in the USA. In closing, just remember, a Communist is nothing but a Socialist in a hurry. πŸ‘‹

Hey 7upuller ( stranger) I know what you mean we been busy too. I should be able to get away.Sounds like fun. Do you want me to call Perris or Bakersfield?
they both have dirt tracks. I always preffererd Bakersfield though. I can see if I can get some banking info from them. I picked up the new 7 axle at Murray last week, Its amazing how much easier it is to get around with a 4ft shorter deck. I had a milk run this week. Took a 336 Cat to Pleasant Grove on the 5 axle, stopped by Rackley picked up some wedge ramps for the 9axle,went to Murray, loaded the sixteen tire on the 7 axle. Then met Mike Mc at Stockdale Hwy in Bakersfield for a parts drop. Stayed at the Best Western flop house for a few hours then got back to the yard at 700 am the next morning to undeck the 16 tire so both trailers can go right to work. Not a bad trip though.

Hey D4e,

Any input would be helpfull. He says he wants 12% midway in the curve, but he isn't sure what he wants coming in and out of them. So how is the New Murray, is it sweet? I have 4 weeks to go for the New Murray Professional I have ordered. I need to call Chaz, I am sure it has started production. So Stranger, I need your help on this one. Not only are you an expert in the trucking field, a tractor nut, you are a racer too. You need to make sure I do it right. Besides, it will be fun watching Oil Slick hook up to a scraper with the High Horse. You know we will be rodtloao. That's rolling on "Dirt Track" laughing our as-es off. πŸ˜›ound: I'll post tomorrow night and report what i see tomorrow.

Hey Jan,

Don't let me down. I need you on this one. I don't trust a lot of people on the 14a, as it is my favorite Cat. You are a natural running the old girl. As for the milage thingy, I go the extra mile all the time.πŸ˜† -glen
