After posting and looking at your pics I had to go and see what was in the Box, Did you get the heat control valve, as usual exceptional detail.

The Cost, in my case I traded a complete used PV 15 manifold, we both paid shipping

I think its about time to Give Byron another chance, You would have a hard time finding a more dedicated antique Cat guy, not to mention his

contrubitions to the hobby. Banning for life was not fair

Anyone taking bets on how long this post last

Manufacturers who sell their product openly, people who offer advice and other help without regard to receiving benefits in return, and people who encourage others to collect, operate, and restore antique equipment make contributions to the hobby.

Sales of product to "approved" buyers who are card-carrying members of a personal fan club is no contribution to the hobby. This is an effort to buy support, and we see from these continued posts that it's working. How many would sell themselves so cheaply in order to obtain that perfect part for their tractor? It's just a tractor.

Byron seems to have his own way of doing things which are in my opinion an acquired taste but he does seem to know what he's doing when it comes to casting vintage cat parts, something no one else has managed to do with his level of skill. I believe that furthers the hobby. Personally, I believe it would be better to take a constructive look at this organization and what its done for the hobby in light of the sacrifices so many have made to make it what it is. You've mentioned you're working on an accounting degree these days so in that vein you might enjoy reviewing this organizations tax returns. I think you will be puzzled as to how this organization could earn the kind of income it has earned and still be in the shape it claims to be today. I hope you take this comment not as a personal attack but as one from a tax attorney to an accountant and although I would much rather spend my time playing with old tractors I often just can't get the forensic accounting issues out of my mind.

Hi everyone, hope I’m not talking out of term here!
It seems that Byron aka (Catman) is making Parts that are no longer available but are necessary intricate items to make your restoration complete and running for the rare old cats.

Hobbyist’s that have brought items from him and have posted photos on this and other forums seem very happy with the items they received!

As he (Catman) is banned for life from this club and I don’t know the politics about him and the club as such, and I do use the other two cat forums, hopefully that won’t be a tick against me in this discussion!

I don’t think anyone who buys his products are necessarily selling themselves cheaply to get that special part for their restoration, are there special guidelines for anyone who wants to buy from him?
It would be good for all concerned and beneficial if they (ACMOC/Catman) could come to some mutual agreement and settle their difference’s maybe?

Hey guys, I finally got around to posting about my box of stuff from the cat cave. I have read posts for quite some time now about the quality and attention to detail of his products. Trust me when I say it is completely up to all of the hype!

Now I would like to address something that I think everyone is missing. How did I get to know Byron and get the chance to purchace these repro parts? Well, anyone can do it. Let me start by saying once again that for quite some time I have been hearing of these repro parts from Catman. I wondered how I could get some of the repro parts from my projects. I contacted him less than 6 months ago now and I recieved my first shipment of parts about 2 weeks ago now. It was that simple. I actually thought that there was some sort of double super secret hand shake or secret club or had to be on some special good guy list. This is completely false. Byron just wants to help the fellow collector by providing these parts while helping himself. Please do not be misled by the hows or whys to him making these parts. He has quite a large collection of old cats. He sees the needs for these parts for his own purpose with his own restorations. So as he makes these parts and he allows a short time frame where people can jump in and commit to buy one. At some point he shuts it off and makes the part. Sure he may make a few (very few) extras. Once he is done with making a certain part, that part is no longer available. This is how I come to understand how these parts became available to the collector circle. What he is doing is very helpful for those who choose to be involved.

So.......(not that I want to go there, but I have to for explanation purpose), since Catman is banned from ACMOC he only has a few other options to network with fellow collectors. Whats wrong with that? nothing! Whats wrong with collectors going to other BB's to see whats the latest repro part from the cat cave? nothing! And selling ourselves so cheap?? I am not even sure where that came from! Trust me when I say that these repro parts are no smoking deal or cheap in any way. They are labor intensive parts done in another country that are heavy and shipped to the US. What part of that sounds cheap. If someone wants or needs these parts to complete a project price is not an issue. If you want to know price, get with Catman, he will speak with anyone. Just contact him. Everyone that has posted about recieving these parts from the cat cave are proud of their purchases, I know i am. How is that different than someone posting about their latest crawler/dozer purchase? There is no difference. I thinks its great that they post the pictures of the beautiful part that they got from Catman. That is why I too am going to start a new thread showing off my parts.

Sorry if I have offended anyone here, but I strongly feel that people are confused when it comes to Catman, his reproduction parts and all of the drama that has followed with his ACMOC banning. My opinion is just that, an opinion and I feel that what he has to offer fellow cat collectors is great and very supportive of the clubs mission/vision statement. I think there are more collectors that could benefit from him being on here where he can advertise his products and share his knowledge.

Take care and I hope this finds everyone well!

I too purchase parts from Catman, communicate regularly with him and assist him with finding the parts or info he needs and in turn recieve help from him in finding the parts or info I need, just like I do with the rest of my fellow Cat enthusiasts. Is that not a part of this whole thing? There's no selling out here or trying to leverage support through some sort of politics. It's just enjoying the hobby the way I prefer to enjoy it, by building friendships online with the very type of people I choose to be friends with in the "real world" away from the internet - people who share the very same interests as I do and know what it's like to get the job done at the end of the day. If this post offends anyone I apologize, but I really don't care. I make it a point to respect the forums that I frequent and enjoy helping when I can, but stuff like this doesn't help anybody. :deadhorse: If I'm judged by this, then so be it but I say it's time to forgive and forget.

If he and his parts are available on other forums - great. I for one do not want to put up with him again on this forum.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
